Surge in Telehealth and Its Implications, Top of Mind for Employers and Health Plans | 03.09.21

Almost as many commercially insured patients had a telephone or video physician visit during the first four months of 2020 than the prior three years combined, according to findings released by the Midwest Health Initiative. Many with Hypertension, the "Silent Killer," Don't Refill Medicines | 12.15.20

Midwest Health Initiative analysis finds that more than a third of patients don’t regularly refill their blood pressure medications. St. Louis Business Health Coalition and Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services partner to address this "silent killer" in workplaces, with turnkey well-being program focused on hypertension to be available to employers soon. Midwest Health Initiative Releases Diabetes Report | 11.16.20

MHI's report, "Defeat Diabetes: Disparities and Opportunities in Missouri’s Commercially Insured Population," finds that disparities in health outcomes were associated with social demographic factors among commercially insured adults. “Small changes, community by community, employer by employer, family by family, can add up to meaningful improvements in health outcomes across the state,” said Marla Langenhorst, Director Benefits, Ameren Corporation and recent past Chair, St. Louis Chapter of the American Diabetes Association.
